Ilevro (generic name: nepafenac) is a member of the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is prescribed to prevent and relieve pain and inflammation, and to reduce the risk of macular edema, after cataract surgery Nepafenac blocks the action of prostaglandin H synthase (cyclooxygenase), which is an enzyme required for prostaglandin. Prostaglandins are responsible for causing pain, redness, inflammation in the eyes, so blocking prostaglandins provides relief in these conditions.
